This tour is for all the foodies and wine lovers out there! We’ll start off with a market visit before going on a tapas crawl through the city, hitting up the best taverns, bars, and vinotecas in Vigo’s Old Port area. After strolling through the city’s cobblestoned streets like a local, we’ll end the afternoon with even more tapas, and some of that famous Galician wine. We’ll begin our Vigo food tour with a walk through the city streets to the local market, recently re-built into a modern new-age urban city market. There are stalls with literally everything you could imagine, from fresh produce to meats, and of course all the fish and seafood that is brought in every morning from the local fishermen. After a quick stop at the market, our first stop will be a quaint bar near the Cathedral of Santa Maria de Vigo, where we’ll try Ribeiro white wine served in typical tazas (ceramic bowls used for drinking). We’ll pair that with an empanada Gallega (Galician pie), Spanish tortillas, and so much more! Then we’re off to a vinoteca (tavern) that specialises in Galician wines. We’ll try a young, red wine that’s made of the Menica grape, and goes well with cured Spanish meats like jamón and chorizo, as well as try some local cheeses like Tetilla and San Simon.Walking further through the old, cobblestoned streets of the port area of the city, we’ll make our way to our very last stop. Here we’ll try something this area is famous for: seafood! The catch of the day is usually mussels or some type of shellfish, but it all depends on what’s available that day. We’ll accompany that with the famed Albariño white wine from the D.O. Rias Baixas. It’s here that our tour will conclude, but be warned, the food and wine coma may linger for hours!

A boat ride on Vigo Bay, a beachside nature trek, and a plate of Galician tapas with wine — could you have any better of a day on the coast of Spain? We didn’t think so. Leave the city behind and head across the water to the small fishing village of Cangas for an evening escapade of pure perfection.Spend a late afternoon exploring a more remote coastal area of Vigo Bay outside the hustle and bustle of the city! This Vigo tour takes you beyond the city and across Vigo Bay on a local ferry boat, to reach the small fishing village of Cangas. During the 20-minute ride your guide will explain the view and history of the area — as well as how the fishermen catch all that delicious fish and seafood! Upon arrival at the Port of Cangas, we’ll take a short taxi ride to the starting point for our coastal walk along a four-kilometre trail. The scenery will be of Insta-worthy golden-sand beach coves, dotted between a ruggedly handsome coastline. From the trail you’ll also see the Cies Islands Nature Park. Don’t worry — we’ll have lots of stops for photos (#localsknow, remember) and to soak in the atmosphere! Once we get back into town, you’ll see all the charming small fishing boats at the port, and we’ll stop at a trendy local tavern to enjoy some Galician tapas and wines. We’ll try four different kinds: pulpo (octopus), Tetilla cheese, croquetas, and pepper, and of course we’re pairing those with local wines like the famed Albariño and Godello whites, and the Mencia red. They’re all young wines, but with plenty of personality (just like us!). You’ll also learn about the different wines of the Galicia region. Our Vigo tour will end at the Port of Cangas, where the ferry departs back for Vigo. From there, it’s up to you! If you decide you want to stay awhile in the village, you can do so (just note that the last ferry leaves at 10:00pm). Otherwise, hop on board and head back to the city to see more of Vigo.
